Wild Turmeric / Curcuma aromatica (Kasturi Manjal) – Nature’s Golden Elixir

Wild turmeric, known in India as Kasturi Manjal, belongs to the Curcuma genus, the same group as common turmeric. Unlike regular turmeric (Curcuma longa), it has a soft sandalwood-like color and a distinctive camphor-like aroma. Valued for centuries in Ayurveda, skincare, and traditional rituals, Kasturi Manjal is especially known for its gentle action on the skin and its natural therapeutic properties.
Many products sold as “Kasturi Manjal” in the market appear bright or dark yellow, but this is often Curcuma zedoaria (commonly known as Manja Koova/Manjakkova) or a mix with regular turmeric rather than true Kasturi Manjal.
Unlike regular turmeric, which is known for its curcumin content, wild turmeric is prized for its rich essential oils and aromatic compounds. This makes it especially suitable for skincare, beauty, and external applications. It is widely used in face masks and traditional treatments to promote glowing skin, reduce acne, and minimize blemishes.

Cultivation and Processing of Wild Turmeric:

Planting, growing, and harvesting wild turmeric is similar to regular turmeric. However, a key factor is ensuring complete separation between turmeric and wild turmeric at all stages:
  • Harvesting on different days
  • Processing in separate equipment (different pulverizers)
  • Packing separately
This prevents any cross-contamination and maintains the purity of both products. Wild turmeric, if mixed with regular turmeric and consumed, can occasionally cause digestive reactions like nausea or diarrhea.
At Sun Green Farms, we maintain strict separation protocols:
  • Wild turmeric is processed in a smaller pulverizer dedicated exclusively to it
  • Regular turmeric uses our 10HP pulverizer
  • Planting, harvesting, processing, and packing are all done on different days for each type of turmeric
  • Quality Assurance and Drying
We prioritize quality and authenticity because most of our customers use wild turmeric powder for beauty and skincare purposes. To retain its natural color, aroma, and potency, wild turmeric is 100% sun-dried in a solar dryer, producing a clean, vibrant, and high-quality powder.
